Betsson Signs Scout Gaming Deal
Betsson has penned a new deal with Scout Gaming to integrate its daily fantasy sports (DFS) betting platform across all its brands.
The deals grants Betsson complete access to Scout Gaming’s DFS platform and is therefore to be integrated on all of Betsson’s brands. The platform should be fully implemented by next year.
The platform is intended to help to widen the group’s target audience and also build loyalty among existing Betsson users, as Andy Broughton Braithwaite, director of gaming at Betsson explained:
We have evaluated how to extend our sports offering and in particular the possibilities related to daily fantasy sports; broadening our target audience as well as increasing loyalty among existing players are two key demands we can address with DFS. Scout Gaming not only offers a wide selection of sports but is also able to support local and niche events, which is important to us. Scout also offers the largest European liquidity network, which was an important consideration in our selection process.– Andy Broughton Braithwaite, director of gaming at Betsson
Betsson are making moves to be an innovative operator, recently becoming the first operator to offer Opta powered 3D football visualisation technology across all its brands. That move came on the back of a strong financial performance in Q3 of 2017 for the group.
Daily fantasy sports a growing market
Daily fantasy sports betting has grown and grown in the UK, with a number of operators now looking to take a slice of the action. Originally popular in the US, in the last ten years, a number of groups have been created to cater for the international market, notably FanDuel and DraftKings.
However, FanDuel pulled out of the UK market after just one year in summer 2017. American sports such as NFL and Baseball continue to dominate, though a fantasy football betting market is picking up steam in the UK.
Daily fantasy sports operators run under a pool betting licence in the UK which is granted by the Gambling Commission.
Scout Gaming is a licensed and regulated provider of fantasy sports based in Norway. Founded in 2014, the group has grown to be a major B2B provider of fantasy sports platforms in Europe.
Speaking about the deal, Andreas Ternström, chief executive at Scout Gaming, said:
I’m delighted that Betsson Group, one of Europe´s leading online operators, has chosen Scout Gaming as their supplier. This agreement confirms that Daily Fantasy Sports is rapidly gaining ground and is expected to be the next online gaming growth vertical.– Andreas Ternström, chief executive at Scout Gaming
