Below, we’ll outline everything you need to know about the competition itself and betting on the Masters. We demonstrate how we review each operator and the criteria we use to do so.
How we Chose the Best Bookmakers for the Masters
Golf is an interesting sport to bet on and the Masters is one of its best betting events. To decide the best masters betting sites, we tested each operator strenuously. We looked for specific masters betting offers, how many bet types and markets they have, how user-friendly the process of betting on the Masters is, and much, much more.
- A high level of payouts and profit potential.
- High quality promotions dedicated to the Masters.
- The schedule of the live betting arena and streaming.
- Number of pre-match/live markets at the platform.
How much money a punter will win at a Masters bookmaker is obviously a major aspect, so we also compared each operator’s odds to determine which offers the highest payouts.
The Masters Odds 2024
It is always important to know the latest odds on the Masters. So we have compiled the list for you in the table below. Of course, this list can and will change in the lead-up (and during) the event. See the Masters odds 2024 below.

As you can see, this year Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy are favourites going in. Nevertheless, this can easily change and some of the outsiders look like have some nice prices going in to the event.
The importance of payouts
A payout simply refers to how much a bookmaker will payout with each winning bet. This is of course relative to the odds offered, with even the best online bookmakers sometimes offering very different odds on the same player. It pays to shop around, but that is time consuming. That’s why we have tested the odds over a dataset from this year’s Masters, to see which bookmaker’s odds are generally the strongest. Check out the table below for more info.

Best Masters betting offers
Any operator worth its salt will offer dedicated Masters betting offers. Nowadays, consumers want special promos and more when betting on the Masters. Bookmakers started this trend in golf with specific betting offers on Tiger Woods but this has now gone further across the best bookmakers. Finding enhanced odds offers can really help increase your payout, so it pays to find a Masters bookmaker that has dedicated bonuses or promotions for the tournament.
Live betting and streaming
Golf is a sport that lends itself well to live betting, and the Masters is no different. With a large playing field, it can pay to take note of some action first, and then place a bet. If you’ve bet pre-tournament, you can also monitor your cash out level. We have only featured bookmakers that offer to live betting on this page.
Number of markets available
Betting on the Masters should also be a good experience. Winning isn’t everything. That’s why it’s important to make sure that the operators you select have a wide range of markets to bet on. Different bet markets can work at different times, so they also bring strategy to the table. We’ve analysed the markets at all our selected operators so you don’t have to.
The Type of Masters markets
Golf doesn’t have the widest array of betting markets, but there are plenty available nowadays at online operators. Below we’ve listed some of our favourites, both in terms of fun, and possible high payouts.
Bet on single games
Unlike most other sports, Masters and golf betting offers more outright betting options than single match ones. That said, there are loads of options these days, so you can also bet on individual holes if wanted.
First Round Leader
The first-round leader bet is perhaps the most similar to a match winner. You’re betting on which player will be leading the pack at the end of the first round, not necessarily at the end of the tournament. Check which players get off to quick starts, as well as who is in good form coming into the Masters.
Next hole score
This one is great for players who want fast action, as you can bet on each hole and the outcome is decided at the end of the hole. You can bet on whether a player will score under par, over par, or exactly par for each hole. Certain players are better on different holes. For example, players with long drives are more likely to birdie longer, par 5 holes, so use your knowledge and check stats to utilise this bet effectively.
To make cut
At the halfway point of the Masters, half the field is eliminated from the competition. Players have to meet a certain score, and those below are out. You can bet on whether or not a player will make the cut. Many players are suited or not suited to Augusta, so check their history at the competition to give you a good insight into how likely they are to make a cut.
Outright/Ante-post betting on the Masters
Outright or antepost betting refers to bets whose outcome depends on the outcome of the competition as a whole. These bets are more traditional and common with golf betting, but along with the classic tournament winner, there are a number of other outright bets nowadays.
Masters Winner Bets
The classic and most simple outright bet. You are betting on which player will win the competition. It is also possible to bet each way on a player as in horse racing. Some bookmakers will pay each way places within the top six, so check to see how many places an operator is paying each way before using this bet. Even though there are many different players, it’s always key to check the form and stats to see who is performing best. Also, look at their history in comparison with the event and then you can make a more informed decision on the tournament’s outcome.
Top GB & Ireland
Great Britain has had a few winners at Augusta. Nick Faldo is the most legendary. You can bet which GB or Irish player will finish the highest with this bet, but they don’t have to win the competition, just finish higher than every other British and Irish competitor. In recent years Rory McIlroy has been at the forefront of the scene, however, do not discount those such as Justin Rose. There are many top players on the circuit so it is not easy to pick a player who will finish above the rest.
Best Rest of World
As above with the top GB and Ireland bet, this is betting on which player from the rest of the world – outside of GB and Ireland – will finish the highest. It’s very hard to pick winners at the Masters, especially with a large American field who usually do well here. This is an extension of what we just discussed, so there will be even more players for you to choose from. It’s a really interesting bet, and if you have good knowledge of the players from around the world, you can really flourish here.
Top 10 Finish
A useful outright bet that offers a little more leeway is betting on a player to finish in the top ten. There are many players that are suited to the Augusta course and usually put in a strong showing, with many top ten or top five finishes. That said, we’ve seen some great players fail spectacularly here over the years. This type of wager will come with reduced odds, and can be used in combination with other bets, as a ‘back-up’ of sorts. We wouldn’t invest too much money here, as you are unlikely to see massive returns.
Best Strategies for Betting on the Masters
Masters betting is similar to all golf tournaments. Take a look at our golf strategy page for a good outline of strategy for golf betting. Before placing your bets, check out which players are in good form, and which play well at the course. You should also keep an eye on which outsiders have a good chance of placing in the top five or ten and using these bets. There have been plenty of surprise victories and finishes, and finding the players with long odds that have a good shot is a great approach.

The Masters is one of golf’s most prestigious tournaments. The tournament winner receives the esteemed green jacket, a symbol of success in the sport. British golf fans will likely prefer the Open Championship as it is on home soil, but there is no denying that the Masters is a special event. Check out the table next to you for some key data.
The Masters is a bit unusual as it always takes part at the same course, Augusta National in Georgia, USA. It takes place in the first full week of April, a lovely time of year in Georgia, meaning the weather is usually great. It started in 1934 and grows each year.
The aforementioned green jacket must be returned by the champion the following year. It is then stored in a special cloakroom and can only be worn when they are on the grounds. If a player wins again, they receive the same jacket they had before. Unless they got fatter of course, then they’d need a new one fitted!
There is also a very prestigious ‘champions dinner’ that takes place the Tuesday before each tournament. As the name suggests, it’s only open to previous champions, and some board members from Augusta.
Those taking part are some of a very select few, and only the elite will ever see the dining table. It is a great little bit of trivia to know, and shows the esteem in which the winners of this event are held.
Overall it is a great event that all golfing fans love to watch. It is truly a wonderful spectacle and is one of the best competitions on the calendar. Everyone looks forward to this event all year round and has produced some wonderful champions.
The Most Important Players of the Masters
The Masters is over 80 years old and it is therefore no surprise that some of the sport’s greatest legends have won at Augusta. Played in America, US players have dominated here, but there have been a few English winners throughout the years.
Stars of the Masters
Here’s a look at some of the stars of the course. Among them are some of golf’s greatest players. Jack Nicklaus has won an incredible six times here, making him both a star and a legend. English legend Nick Faldo also has an impressive three wins.
-
Jack Nicklaus, The Golden Bear
Nicklaus is the undisputed master of the Masters, with six wins between 1963 and 1986.
-
Tiger Woods, Tiger
Current holder of the Green Jacket, Tiger Woods has five victories at Augusta, just one behind Nicklaus.
-
Nick Faldo
One of England’s greatest ever golfers, Faldo was a world number one at his peak, and has won three Masters, including back to back wins in 1989 and 1990.
-
Gary Player, The Black Knight
South African legend Gary Player was always strong at Augusta. He has three titles to his name, with the last coming in 1978.
-
Horton Smith, The Joplin Ghost
While not a household name nowadays like the rest of the legends listed here, Smith was the winner of the first ever Masters in 1934. He then became the first person to win a second Masters after repeating the feat two years later in 1936.
History of the Masters and Betting
The Masters started in 1934 and was first won by Horton Smith. It was abandoned between 1943-45 due to the World War, when cattle and turkeys were raised on the grounds to help the war effort. The big three of the 1960s and 70s, Palmer, Player, and Nicklaus, dominated the competition throughout those years. It wasn’t until the 1980s that non-Americans began to regularly win the competition.
Prize money has grown rapidly and is now one of the highest in the sport. Perhaps the most famous prize is the green jacket, however. Winners were awarded with the distinctive green jacket since 1949 and then become members of the club.

We’ve covered loads of information and analyses, so now it’s time for something a little more light-hearted. Below is some of our favourite trivia and bets made on the Masters, including the lucky winner of a massive bet on Tiger in 2019, which received international media coverage.
-
US bettor scoops $1.2m on Woods
A US punter placed $85,000 on Tiger Woods to win the 2019 Masters at 14-1 with William Hill. The lucky bettor won a huge $1.2m on the bet.
-
Willett’s Mum backs her boy
Danny Willett’s 2016 win was sensational, but one person expected it. Danny’s mum bet £10 on her boy and took home a massive £1,150 from the 115-1 odds.
-
Immelman the longest odds at 150/1
Trevor Immelman’s victory in 2008 remains the biggest shock victory for some time. The American was 150/1 pre-tournament but went on to win by 3 shots. Other recent notable long shots include Zach Johnson at 125/1 in 2007, Angel Cabrera at 125/1 in 2009, and Charl Schwartzel at 100/1 in 2011.
It’s overwhelming, because of what has transpired. Last year I was lucky to be playing again. To now be the champion. Unreal for me to experience this. I couldn’t be more happy and excited. I’m at a loss for words.
