Proctor Named Sky Betting & Gaming CEO
Sky Betting & Gaming (SBG) has named Ian Proctor as the new CEO of the brand. Proctor will take over from Richard Flint with immediate effect.
Proctor was previously chief financial officer at the group. Richard Flint, who has been at the helm of SBG as CEO for the last ten years, will become the new executive chairman.
The two will report the Stars Group CEO Rafi Ashkenazi.
The changes come as the group restructures its management positions following the approval of a takeover by the Stars Group. Conor Grant – previously director of gaming brands at SBG – has been appointed as the new chief operating officer.
Speaking about the changes and his new role as executive chairman, Richard Flint said:
I am looking forward to helping shape the next chapter of growth for SBG as part of The Stars Group. I am confident that the new management structure, which includes an operational board for SBG, will allow us to maintain our unique culture that has delivered success over the years and continue delivering market share gains in the UK online betting and gaming market, building on our position as the UK’s most popular online betting brand.– Richard Flint, Sky Betting & Gaming executive chairman
Competitions and Market Authority approves acquisition
Last week, news broke that the Competitions and Markets Authority (CMA) had cleared the acquisition of SBG by the Stars Group. The acquisition was completed in July but the CMA was reviewing the takeover under the Enterprise Act 2002.
The CMA investigated whether the merger resulted in a lessening of competition in the sector. That included an invitation for comments, with the CMA revoking the initial enforcement order in September. Clearance was then issued this month.
The new appointments and managerial reshuffle is aimed at facilitating the new integration plans and delivering expected cost synergies following the merger.
