Sky Bet create social responsibility role
Sky Betting and Gambling (SBG) have introduced a new senior management role to focus on social responsibility. The company have appointed the former head of trading Ben Wright to the position.
A new role with the working title of ‘head of safer gambling’ has been created by online-only company Sky Betting and Gambling. The company hopes the move will unite the company’s efforts to ensure safer gambling for consumers.
The promotion for Wright is one of several he has enjoyed since joining SBG. Starting as a trader, in eleven years he progressed through the management ranks to land this new leadership role.
A spokesman for SBG explained that Wright’s roles and responsibilities will be to create a new team that will be tasked with creating the “safest online gambling experience possible”. It is believed that the team will be sourced from existing employees of SBG.
The company’s director of external affairs, Adam Brickell, paid tribute to the knowledge of the industry that Wright will be bringing to the post and plauded his suitability for the role, saying:
Ben’s experience in the industry, and within Sky Betting & Gaming, in particular, means he is very well placed to take on this challenge.–Adam Bricknell, SBG director.
SBG has been public in their proactive approach to promoting responsible gambling tools. CEO Richard Flint heralded his company’s recent decision to produce a big budget advert to promote Sky Bet’s safer gambling campaign.
Featuring many stars of the sporting world, such as Phil Thompson, Matt Le Tissier and Soccer Saturday host Jeff Stelling, the series of 30-second adverts showcases the self-help facilities available. Entitled ‘Three Simple Tools’, it shows how you can set deposit limits, impose a ‘cooling off’ period on your account and see overall gambling net gains or losses with a new ‘Profit and Loss’ function that is available.
