How did we choose each one? Well in the following sections we break down each specific category. For now, all you need to know is these bookies are the best choice for Davis Cup betting.

How we Chose the Best Bookmakers for the Davis Cup

We use a whole host of criteria to decide which Davis Cup sportsbook is the best. Some of it is simple, like looking at the betting markets and functionality. But other parts are more complicated. For example, to find out which online betting sites have the best payout for the Davis Cup, we use sports betting payouts to work out which sportsbook offers the best odds for the tournament.

There are of course more criteria, but those are among the most important. We’ll discuss each aspect in more detail below to explain why they are so important, and why those factors come together to create a great Davis Cup sportsbook.

The Importance of Payout Calculations

We start our in-depth discussion with payouts, as this is a very important aspect. Payouts are relative to bookmakers’ odds. So, the higher the odds, the higher the payout. Check out the table below with that in mind to see which operators offer the highest payout for the Davis Cup.

Best Davis Cup Betting Offers

Another thing that can help with your play are betting bonuses. As it is one of tennis’ most prestigious competitions, it’s not unusual to see bookmakers dedicate specific Davis Cup betting offers. For example, you might find enhanced odds, dedicated promotions, or early cash out offers.

Live Betting and Streaming

The nature of tennis makes it particularly predisposed to the best live betting sites. The action is thick and fast and can change in an instant. Live betting markets are a huge part of Davis Cup bookmakers and you shouldn’t consider those lacking in this area. Look out for a large number of betting markets and high in-play odds but also things that will aid your betting, such as live streams and live statistics.

Number of Markets Available

As we mentioned briefly above, any tennis bookie worth their salt will have a wide array of betting markets available. This allows us to vary our approach and strategy according to each game, so long as the bookmaker offers the market we want to exploit. That’s why it’s key to use an operator that has all the bases covered in this area. We have only listed operators on this page that have comprehensive market coverage.

The Type of Davis Cup Markets

Now let’s take a closer look at some of the popular markets available. We’ll go through the most common Davis and Fed Cup bet types and what data and stats you should keep in mind when using them.

Bet on Single Games

Single game markets do exactly what they say on the tin, in that they are bets for a single match, rather than the tournament itself. These markets have opened up even more recently, after the International Federation (ITF) revolutionised the Davis Cup format, creating a qualifying phase in February and a final phase at the end of November.

Match Winner: The Most Popular Bet

The most popular and straight forward bet in tennis is the match winner, where you are choosing which player – or team for doubles – will win a single match. This was traditionally to bring a point to the winning team, but with the new format and qualifying, this applies also to the knock-out format and making it trough to the next round.

Number of Sets: Over/Under

This is betting on whether you think the amount of sets to be played will be more or less than a determined amount. The Davis Cup throws up some unique problems here. Most matches are played to the best of three sets, which makes the available options less. However, the qualifying matches are played to the best of five sets, showing how the new format has affected this Davis Cup betting market.

Tie Break: Yes/No Market

Choosing whether there will be a tie break or not requires looking deeply and a match and its participants. The Davis Cup is also a tricky one for this, since the playing surface is not always the same. Essentially, the faster the service, the greater the difficulty in breaking an opponent’s serve, meaning tie breaks are more likely. Make sure to check if a big serving player is playing on a fast surface if you want to exploit this market.

Outright/Ante-post Betting on the Davis Cup

Ante-post bets refer to bets that are not dependent on a single match. In this case, they would relate to a team’s performance in the tournament as a whole. Let’s take a look at some common outright or ante-post bets.

Davis Cup Winner Bets

The US Flag This bet is exactly as the name suggests. You’re simply betting on which team you think will win the tournament. This is now a little different thanks to the new format. Four finalists from the previous edition go through to next year’s final stage, plus two wildcards. But ultimately, your selection will have to win the entire tournament for the bet to be successful. Obviously, some nations are stronger than others, however, there have been some surprises, so it can give you good value on odds depending on the year! We’d also say be careful in regards to who is representing the nation, as sometimes players will drop out and can affect the overall team.

Finalist Bets

Belgium Flag A finalist, or runner up bet, relates to your selection reaching the final or the tournament. Experience counts for a lot in the Davis Cup, with many teams consistently successful, so check recent tournament results when going with this strategy. There are always some surprises too, but lowly minnows very rarely make it to the final stages. For you to be successful here, you simply need to find a team you like but think they lack the quality to get past the final hurdle. This is easier said than done, of course, and it definitely needs a little bit of luck to be successful!

Reach the Final Stage

Argentinian and Czech flags This is a new one thanks to the new format starting from 2019. This bet relates to which teams will make it past the February qualifying round to the final stage of the competition. Make sure to check which players will represent their country, as it is not always the country’s best that does so. For example, betting on Switzerland to make the finals seems much less of a sure thing if you were to learn that Roger Federer would not be competing for Switzerland. This is often the case an requires a bit of research before placing your bet. What also must be noted is that there will also be lower odds on offer here, due to it being easier to reach the final stages than to win it.

Part of the Board

A tournament lineup showing all the countries taking part at the 2018 Davis Cup Each team taking part in the Davis Cup is split into one of two sides of the draw. This bet involves choosing which side of the draw the winner will come from, top or bottom. This bet will only become available after the February qualifying round, when the finalists are known and the draw has been decided. We recommend waiting until closer to the tournament to use this bet, so you have a good idea of things like form. This is another one with very low odds, due to the high chance of predicting the outcome successfully. We’d recommend only using this if you are betting big, otherwise, you stand to make very little profit.

Best Strategies for Betting on the Davis Cup

So, taking in what we have discussed already, what strategies should we take into account when betting on the Davis Cup? Firstly, make sure to choose the right bookmaker, one that fits all your needs. Next, make yourself aware of which players are competing for the teams you are backing. After this, you can start to arm yourself with useful data surrounding the players and teams that will help when using your favoured betting markets.

History, Rules, and Regulations of the Davis Cup

The Davis Cup is one of tennis’ oldest competitions. It is the oldest tournament played between national teams. It was conceived in 1899 by four Harvard University students, including Dwight F. Davis, who gave the tournament its name, with the idea being challenging British opponents. In 1905 the tournament expanded to include France, Belgium, Austria, and Australasia. In 1923, the European and American Zones were established, with the notion that respective winners met head to head to win the tournament.

Australia dominated over the 1950 and 1960s, winning the tournament 15 times. It wasn’t until 1973 that a team other than the USA, UK, France, or Australia won, when South Africa broke the tradition. Other teams went on to win since then, such as Italy in 1976.

Nowadays, the competition is overseen by the ITF. The winner receives the legendary “silver salad bowl” trophy. The Davis Cup awarded ATP points for victories, but this was ended in 2015. Huge reform was approved by the ITF in August 2018 which has seen the competition reduced to two weeks, with a qualifying round. These changes were not without controversy, but the first new format was played in 2019.

It is very common for the very best players to skip the tournament, although this does not happen every time. Roger Federer is a prime example for this, as although early in his career he represented his nation frequently, he became less interested as the years went by. It can be said the Davis Cup is a proving ground of sorts, and as a result is not seen as important for the very best stars.

The Best Teams of the Davis Cup

Just like the Grand Slam tournaments, the Davis Cup has contributed important pages to tennis’ history. Many of the world’s best do not compete in the Davis Cup, as they like to focus on their singles careers and the Grand Slams, but that leaves the stage open for other players to come forward and produce some unexpected winners.
